Today In Pro Wrestling History: On February 3rd, 1989, at The Bradley Center, the WWF presented the second edition of “The Main Event” on NBC. The event was headlined by The Mega Powers, Hulk Hogan, and Randy Savage, taking on The Twin Towers, Akeem, and The Big Bossman.
Today in Pro Wrestling History February 3rd: The Disintegration of the Mega-Power

The highlight of the night and a pivotal moment in WWF storytelling was the disintegration of The Mega Powers. The tension peaked during the match when Savage was thrown out of the ring onto Elizabeth. Hogan, concerned for Elizabeth, carried her backstage, leaving Savage to fend for himself. This act of chivalry sowed seeds of jealousy in Savage.
Upon Hogan’s return and eventual victory, Savage’s fury was unleashed with a slap to Hogan. The post-match scenario escalated quickly with Savage accusing Hogan of coveting Elizabeth. Despite Hogan’s attempts at reconciliation, Savage attacked him with the WWF Championship belt. This dramatic episode led to the dissolution of The Mega Powers and set the stage for their iconic showdown at “WrestleMania V.”
