Taking Brooklyn: Enzo and Cass Debut in NYC

Welcome back to Huge Crowd Reactions in Wrestling. This series is basically an excuse for us here at Pro Wrestling Stories to revel in some of the moments that made us lose our minds. I mean, we’re all pretty huge wrestling fans. We live for those huge crowd reactions. Even as at-home viewers, those are the moments we crave. We want to be on the edge of our seats, or even out of them entirely.

Enzo and Cass Huge Crowd Reaction at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn

For this installment, we’re going to spotlight the warm hometown entrance of Enzo Amore and Big Cass at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015. They were essentially on the pre-show, which was later broadcast on the next week’s episode of NXT. Despite that, they may have gotten the loudest pop of the night (outside of Finn Balor and Bayley’s NXT Championship victories – nothing else even came close). Keep in mind, this was their first appearance in front of a crowd this size. It was also the first TakeOver outside of Full Sail. They still blew the roof off the place.

I was there that night, and I was one of the many people who lost their minds. I remember when I first saw Enzo and Cass on NXT, I wanted to hate them. All I could think of was "The Jersey Shore," and I couldn’t stand that show. However, they broke through that with pure charisma and likability. There’s no better way to put it.

I mean, it’s certainly not their in-ring ability.

Joking aside, charisma isn’t why they got one of the biggest reactions on the card at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. City to city, no matter the country, Enzo and Cass get a reaction when they enter because people like them. They’re endearing. Let us not forget, Carmella was introduced through them. They got her fired from her job at a hair salon, so she showed up at the Performance Center and demanded they get her a chance to fight (which raises all sorts of questions as to the security of the PC – in kayfabe, at least – they don’t mess around in real life).

It should not be underestimated that even in developmental, Enzo and Cass were able to build up someone else. It’s a true testament to their likability and audience connection. Plus, they have the sing-along aspect. The Realest Guys In The Room have more than one entrance that could qualify for this series, most notably their main roster debut on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 32 with the Dudley Boyz.

Every time, thousands say all the words right along with them. How could they not? Enzo Amore is a certified G, and a bonafide stud…

Oh, and Big Cass? He’s seven feet tall, and I don’t know if you know this, but you can’t teach that.
