Today in Pro Wrestling History (September 19): Rude looks Ravishing in Gold
This title, known as ‘the Big Gold Belt’, had previously symbolized the NWA World Championship. WCW, having recently withdrawn from the National Wrestling Alliance and relinquished the rights to use the NWA name, created their own championship: the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship. Rude held the title until losing it to Hiroshi Hase on March 16, 1994, in Tokyo, Japan, only to regain it eight days later.
