The show, originally scheduled to tape two days earlier, was presented live instead, after being postponed due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

This historical episode was actually the first live televised sporting event to occur in the US since the tragedy. The show opened with Vince McMahon addressing the crowd and then, ring announcer Lilian Garcia lit up the arena with her version of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’.
