On October 3rd, 1999, the World Wrestling Federation announced that writers Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara had abruptly resigned and would be joining rival World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

Russo and Ferrara, known for their “crash-TV” style on WWF’s RAW and Smackdown, had constructed a deal with WCW after meeting secretly with officials in Atlanta. The move was initially seen as a significant setback for WWF and a potential advantage for WCW.

However, their approach in WCW, including the ‘New Blood’ angle, was met with criticism from long-time fans. Less than two years after their arrival, WCW was sold to WWF in the spring of 2001.
