Today in Pro Wrestling History: (May 29): A Pop Star Comes To Piper’s Pit

Things turned physical, as Lauper began swinging at both Albano and Piper with her purse until manager David Wolff pulled her away.
The segment would eventually air on the June 16, 1984 episode of the show, and would lead to The Brawl to End it All, two months later. It was, at the time, the highest rated television program in MTV history, and featured The Fabulous Moolah and Wendi Richter for the WWF Women’s Championship.
