Today In Pro Wrestling History (February 25th): Flair and Luger Have a Wild War for the Title
The show was originally supposed to see Flair defend the championship against Sting, but the challenger was injured a few weeks prior during the main event of Clash of the Champions X: Texas Shootout. Sting was replaced by his longtime friend Lex Luger in the match. Despite a push from some in management for Luger to win the belt and drop it back to Flair, The Nature Boy reportedly refused, saying he had promised to pass the torch to The Stinger. He eventually did, later in the year, at The Great American Bash.
