Their victory came as a result of their opponents, The Eliminators (Saturn and Kronus), being stripped of the titles. Saturn suffered a serious knee injury, leaving the team unable to defend the championships. The ECW management declared the titles vacant, and a new championship match was booked for Wrestlepalooza.
The Dudley Boyz faced off against the team of Kronus and a mystery partner. The mystery partner turned out to be John Kronus himself, disguised as a masked wrestler named “The Total Package. Despite this twist, The Dudley Boyz emerged victorious, claiming the vacant titles.
