The series of matches between the two men in the Philly-based company were revolutionary in the US at the time, as they showcased various international styles and high-octane exchanges. It also proved to be their springboard to fame: Malenko and Guerrero would eventually sign with WCW, becoming vital parts of its cruiserweight division.

However, it proved to be a short title reign for Malenko. He would lose the belt back to Guerrero in another classic match just seven days later. (ECW Hardcore TV #120, August 8th, 1995):
