An American-Italian’s Diminished Dreams in WWE

Marc Copani (who would later be rechristened as Muhammad Hassan) arrived on the WWE roster in 2004. 

The 6’2″, 243-pound prospect was set on a path to reach the pinnacle of pro wrestling, but tragic events curtailed his bid for greatness.

On the very day the above footage aired, the tragic July 7th, 2005 bombings took place in London. 

“It was heartbreaking at the time to be told that due to circumstances completely out of everyone’s control that we were being taken off TV."

Interestingly, during their sudden rise to the top of the RAW card, another team scoring significant heat regularly and tremendous success on the tag-team scene were disbanded to allow all the anti-American heat to attach itself to Hassan and Daivari.
