Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant made a significant impact on professional wrestling at WrestleMania 3 in front of a reported 93,173 fans (brother), but it wasn't their inaugural showstopper.

The dynamic between Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan extended far beyond the ring, marked by a surprising and long-standing feud that lasted for eight years.

Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant –The Early Years Back in 1980, in a reversal of roles, a face (good guy) Andre the Giant faced a heel (bad guy) Hulk Hogan. Andre was victorious in most of those sixteen confrontations.

In 1982 and ’83, the pair had a few additional matches, too. This time, however, Andre worked as the heel and Hogan as the face.

Fun fact: Hulk Hogan managed to body slam Andre the Giant not just once but twice within the confines of a WWE (formerly WWF) ring prior to the iconic "slam heard 'round the world!"

Off-camera, things were not always pleasant between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. In fact, early on, Andre made life hell for Hogan.

“Andre the Giant beat me up every day for the first eight years,” Hulk Hogan admitted. “I was so nervous I used to puke on the way to the building."
